SYM Fresh bags are made with our d2p ethylene adsorber technology, developed to reduce spoilage of fresh fruit and vegetables (which continue to ripen after they have been picked). Sym Fresh bags have a microporous structure which will adsorb and trap ethylene inside the film: effectively delaying ripening and regulating moisture, to slow down the drying out process and conserving the nutritional qualities, crispness and flavour of fruit and vegetables.
SYM Fresh bags are proven to extend the shelf life of such produce by up to 40%.
Fruit and Vegetable bags
Did you know?
Several types of fruits and vegetables continue to ripen after they are picked. These fruits and vegetables are called climacteric. Climacteric fruit and vegetables release ethylene gas which causes the produce to continue to mature: This maturation can alter the colour and texture of the produce, effectively shortening the shelf life.
Climacteric Fruit and Vegetables
Apple, apricot, asparagus, avocado, banana, blueberry, broccoli, cabbage, cantaloupe, carrot, celery, courgette, cucumber, figs, fresh herbs, guava, kiwi, leek, lettuce, mango, mushrooms (non-moist) nectarine, papaya, passion fruit, peach, peppers, plantain, plum , tomatoes and zucchini
Food Waste
Every single day in UK homes we throw away approximately (Wrap 2020):
86,000 lettuces (the tip of the iceberg)
800,000 apples
920,000 bananas
1.2 million tomatoes
2.7 million carrots
